task 5

I am applying for accountancy and finance, as for a long time I have had an interest in going down this specific career path. I want to become an accountant as I think that my personal skills and interests are well suited for this type of work. I love building relationships and meeting new people and I am committed to go down this path and learn even more skills. I am a dedicated, hard-working student trying to achieve my goal of being a qualified accountant. The reason why I think accountancy is the right career path for me is that I have always been interested in finance and maths. I also enjoy helping out people and building a strong relationship with them and that is something that being an accountant brings, as you are able to build yourself a client base and also build yourself a good relationship with them. 

 

I am currently studying at long road sixth form college, where I am doing level 3 applied media course. I might not be doing a course relevant to what I want to do in the future, but I have still learnt a lot of skills. The main thing I have gained from this course so far is huge amount of experience in working as a group and the importance of communicating as a group. This course has also taught me the importance of knowing what you are doing and also the importance of being able to communicate with others in a way, where they will understand what you trying to explain to them. The one thing that I have learnt from this course that could be useful in the future is problem solving and finding solutions for thing that you have no idea about; this has taught me not to give up and try my best at all times. 

 

I currently have a part-time job, working at CurrysPcWorld as a Sales advisor, where I have been working for over 2 years now. From working there, I have gained a lot of skills and experience, mainly communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills as the job is built around talking to customers, helping them find a solution to their needs and also work as a team. The most important thing when it comes to working for Currys is making sure we put customers at number 1 priority and that’s where our add-ons that we sell come in. To get a full sale with all add-ons we need to convince the customer and explain to them the benefits of the add-ons, this is most likely the hardest part about the whole job as not only do you need to overcome objections in some cases but also make sure you’re not pressuring the customer into taking it. Overall, over the 2 years I have worked here I’ve changed as a person, my confidence has gone up and I’m more open to talk to people. Main thing I enjoy about working here is the constant communication with people and building a good rapport with them, in general just making sure that the customers are satisfied with the service. In my opinion, the main thing that this place taught me is how to work as a team and the correct way of communicating with customers

 

Another experience that I have had, is during work experience where I worked at Carls Zeiss for 4 days as an IT support. I had multiple tasks mainly customer based, for example sorting out their laptops and preparing them to be given back. The main thing that I learnt from working there was the importance of working as a team as well as the importance of building a good relationship and with your fellow colleagues.

 

I have already started doing a lot of research on what is needed to become a qualified accountant and I am aware of all the different types of accountants that I could become as well as all the different ways of becoming one. My first and most important step would be to get onto an accountancy and finance course, which will open a completely new chapter in my life and will bring me a step closer to my dream goal of being an accountant.
